Meet Our New Staff!

  • Essex Elementary School

    Margaret Morriss- Administrative Assistant:  Mrs. Morriss is thrilled to be joining the staff at EES as the Administrative Assistant.  Previously, she worked as Center Director/Administrator at Northeast Montessori School in Danvers and Knowledge Beginnings Child Development Center in North Reading.  She loves working with children, families, and staff, and looks forward to supporting the EES community!

    Natalia Porciello- Fourth Grade Teacher:  Miss Porciello is so excited to be joining the EES staff as a fourth-grade teacher.  She earned a BA. in Psychology, with a minor in Spanish from James Madison University, and a Master’s degree in  Elementary Education from U. Mass. Lowell.  Natalia recently taught third grade in Rockland, MA and also worked as an Applied Behavior Analysis Tutor in Hanover, MA.  The interview team was overwhelmingly impressed with Natalia’s model lesson and look forward to working with her!

    Joyce Hersey- Kindergarten Teaching Assistant in Ms. Jordan’s class:  Mrs. Hersey holds a BA. in Early Childhood Education from Salem State University.  She has worked as a Teaching Assistant in MERSD for the past 8 years.  Joyce lives in Essex and her children both attended EES. She is very excited to return to Essex Elementary School to support the kindergarten program. 

    Patricia Roundy- Kindergarten Teaching Assistant in Mrs. Russo’s class:  “Miss Patty” has worked as a Teaching Assistant at EES for 10 years.  She holds an Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts from North Shore Community College.  Patty loves working with “little learners’ and is beyond excited to become a part of the Kindergarten team at EES.

    Danielle Demetri- Essex Elementary School SWING program 1:1 Teaching Assistant:  Danielle graduated from Endicott College with a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education in 2018.  In 2001, she earned a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Lesley University and received her BA. in Psychology from U. Mass. Lowell.  She has worked in the mental health field for a number of years, and from 2002-2003 was a 1:1 Teaching Assistant at EES.  We are thrilled to welcome Danielle back to Essex Elementary!

    Carmela Stella- Essex Elementary School SWING program 1:1 Teaching Assistant:  Carmela recently graduated from U.N.H. with a Master’s degree in Elementary Education.  She completed her undergraduate degree from U.N.H. as well, earning a B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies.  Carmela has worked extensively with children and is familiar with Essex having been a counselor at the Ipswich Y.M.C.A. 

    Lindsey Jordan- Essex Elementary School SWING program 1:1 Teaching Assistant:  Lindsey recently graduated from U. Mass. Amherst with a degree in Psychology (and minor in education).  She worked as the after-school group leader at the Steward School in Topsfield.  Lindsey is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in School Adjustment Counseling from Salem State University. 

    Erica Costa- Long Term Substitute for O.T. at EES (maternity leave until November):  Erica will be covering for Mrs. Harutunian during her maternity leave.  She will be working on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  We are thrilled to have her onboard in Annie’s absence. 

     

     

    Manchester Essex Middle School

    Elizabeth (Liz) Brown:  Liz Brown joins the middle school as a teacher in the SWING and SAIL programs.  A graduate of Gordon College for both her undergraduate and Master of Education degrees, Liz has worked for the Howe Manning Elementary and Fuller Meadow Elementary Schools in Middleton, The Milestones Day School in Waltham, and Cove Elementary School in Beverly. 

    Margaret (Maggie) Oliver:  Maggie joins the middle school as a math teacher. During the 2018-19 school year, she will teach Grade 8 math. Maggie is a graduate of the College of Holy Cross, where she received a BA in Economics and Spanish. She received her Master of Education with a focus on Middle School Math from American International College. Maggie brings experience from the Nativity Preparatory School of New Bedford and Our Lady of the Assumption to MEMS.

    Carolyn Houde:  Carolyn is the new Middle School Administrative Assistant. Carolyn joined the middle school after spending 11 years at the Memorial Elementary School where she divided her time between administrative tasks, recess monitoring, and mail delivery.

    Laura Crossman: Laura is a student teacher joining us from Gordon College. She will be working in the middle school special education department.

    Christina Noonan:  Christina is a student teacher joining us from Endicott College. She will be working in the middle school English department.

     

    Manchester Essex High School

    Courtney Brown – Math Teacher:  Ms. Brown is a recent graduate of Endicott College.  She student taught in the math and special education departments at MERHS during the 2017 – 2018 school year.  Ms. Brown worked at the Fecteau Leary Junior/Senior Alternative School.  Ms. Brown is pursuing her Masters of Teaching at Boston University.  Ms. Brown will be teaching Algebra I.

    Marissa Lomas – French Teacher:  Ms. Lomas joins us after teaching French at Holliston High School for the past 10 years.  Ms. Lomas graduated from Middlebury College with a Master of Arts (French).  She received her Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in French and minor in Education from Wheaton College.  Ms. Lomas will be teaching French II and III.

    Steve Padovani – Academic Center/Bridge Program:  Mr. Padovani joins us after serving as the lead special education teacher at Reading Memorial High School’s Therapeutic Support Program. Mr. Padovani also served as a special education teacher at Triton Regional High School.  Mr. Padovani received his Bachelor of Science from Northeastern University (Sociology) and his Master of Education (Students with Moderate Disabilities) from Cambridge College.  Mr. Padovani will oversee the newly matched Academic and Bridge Program.

    Peter Tarpinian – Special Education Teacher:  Mr. Tarpinian joins MERHS after working as a special education teacher at Chelmsford High School for the past four years.  Mr. Tarpinian received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Salem State University.  He also attended Fitchburg State University where he received his Master of Education (Special Education – Moderate Disabilities).  In addition to co-teaching, Mr. Tarpinian will oversee the Transitions Program.

    William Novak - Chemistry Teacher:  Mr. Novak joins us after teaching Chemistry at Beverly High School for the past seven years. Mr. Novak received his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Physics from Queen’s University in Kingston, Canada.  He also received his Masters of Science in Chemistry from the University of Western Ontario.  Mr. Novak attended Boston College where he received his Doctor of Philosophy (Chemistry) and also received his Masters of Education from Gordon College. 

    Angie Rice – Long Term Substitute Teacher – English:  Ms. Rice will cover Ms. Krause’s maternity leave for the start of the year.  She is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire with a major in English.  She received her Master of Arts in Teaching from Salem State University.  Ms. Rice has worked in the Ipswich and Amesbury school districts.  She also has served as an adjunct lecturer at Northern Essex Community College.

    Ashton Burke – Teaching Assistant Academic Center/Bridge Program:  Ms. Burke graduated from Gordon College with a Bachelor of Arts in both Psychology and Early Childhood Education.  She is currently pursuing her Master of Education in School Counseling at Salem State University.  Ms. Burke has worked as a therapeutic mentor and group leader of Lahey Behavioral Services in Beverly.
