    Essex Elementary School


    Kristin Bucci | Moderate Teaching Assistant

    Kristin graduated from Wheelock College with a certification in Early Childhood Education.  She worked as a TA at Manchester-Essex Middle School from 2010-2013 and prior to that as a TA in Chelsea.   We are excited to have Kristin join our team.  

    Madison Crateau | SWING Teaching Assistant

    Madison graduated from Merrimack College with a degree in Child, Family, and Community Studies in Early Childhood Education.  She worked at SHED Children’s Campus for 3 years and most recently spent the past year completing her student teaching in Beverly at the Ayers Ryal Side Elementary School. 

    Nicole Grasso- Correnti | School Nurse

    Nicole graduated from Boston College with a BS. in nursing and has been a nurse for over 20 years.  She started out in pediatrics and then moved into cardiology with adults.  Most recently she has been working at Lahey hospital in an outpatient program.  Nicole has started her school nurse training and is very excited at the prospect of working in a school. With three children of her own, she has a broad background in working as a volunteer in her children’s schools and has a great deal to bring to the health office at EES! 

    Kara Hennessey| OT

    Kara graduated from Quinnipiac University, with a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy and has worked in numerous settings, including Project C.H.I.L.D., and most recently at Boston Children’s Hospital.   We are excited to have Kara on our team and look forward to working with her!

     


    Manchester Memorial Elementary School


    Melissa Goldner | SAIL Program Teacher

    For the last six years, Melissa has taught at Essex Elementary School as one of the SWING Program teachers and, last year, as a Moderate Special Education Teacher. Prior to coming to MERSD, Melissa worked as an ABA Program Teacher, a Therapeutic Teacher, and in a residential school for students with Autism. Melissa graduated from Simmons College in 2011 with a Masters in Special Education - Severe Disabilities and has since completed Endicott College's certification program in Behavior Analysis. She holds a Board Certification in Behavior Analysis, as well as a License in Applied Behavior Analysis through MA. She enjoys professional growth opportunities, most recently becoming involved with issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Melissa is an advocate for all and greatly enjoys the collaborative aspects of her role. She greatly enjoyed her time as a member of the Essex Elementary School community and is looking forward to fostering new relationships with the amazing educators at MMES this year."

    Lauren Hennessey | SAIL Teaching Assistant

    Lauren has recently graduated from the University of Massachusetts Boston majoring in Psychology. She is continuing her education online at Capella University completing her masters in school counseling.  For the past year she has worked as a Behavioral Therapist for Key Autism Services and can’t wait to start at Manchester Memorial Elementary!  

    Fiona Keelan |Fourth Grade Teacher

    Fiona is a long-term substitute teacher joining the fourth-grade team. For the 2020-2021 school year, Fiona taught first grade in New York. She is thrilled to be joining the MMES family. Fiona graduated from The University of Scranton in 2016 with her degree in Early and Primary Education. She is passionate about working with her students to help them love learning. Prior to her recent move from New York, Fiona received her Master’s in Special Education and Literacy from Manhattanville College and has experience teaching elementary grades and middle school reading and math. She is very excited about the year to come!

    Melissa Morton | Pre-K Teacher

    Melissa is joining the MMES team at a time when our Pre-K program is growing!  She relocated from the South Shore to Newburyport recently and is excited to help the Pre-K program expand this year.  She graduated from Bridgewater State University with both her Bachelor’s Degree and a Master of Education degree.  She previously was a Kindergarten Teacher in the Brockton Public Schools.  Melissa is excited for the upcoming year with her new team!

    Erin Ricci - Pre-K Teaching Assistant

    Erin started her first year in the district last year in a COVID position of classroom monitor during the pandemic. She worked in grades k-5 in the classrooms for art and music so the specialists could work remotely for online and in classroom students. She also assisted in the library and helping teachers with prep work. When the students returned to in-person learning she worked in the second grade with a student who remained remote for the remainder of the year. Erin has previous experience in the medical field and property and retail management but last year was her first experience in education and she looks forward to working with the littlest students at MERSD in both of the newly expanded Pre-K classrooms.  

    Rebecca Xiarhos, LCSW |School Adjustment Counselor

    Rebecca is new to the MERSD community but is incredibly excited to getting back to working with young children especially during a time of big emotions. Prior to the school setting, Rebecca worked as a Clinical Social Worker at Lahey Hospital for two and a half years. She graduated from Simmons University in 2018 with a Master’s in Social Work which was a continuation of her education in the social work field which began at the University of Central Florida. Throughout the years, Rebecca has worked doing DCF case management, crisis evaluations as well as in the mental health sector. She is eager to get started this school year especially with how wonderful the Manchester Memorial community is.

     


    Manchester Essex Regional Middle School 


    Matt Aumais | Grade 7 Social Studies

     Matt has worked with MERSD for the past two years as a teaching assistant in our SAIL program and a long-term substitute teacher in Grade 7 social studies. He also has several years of experience working as an intern, coach at Lawrence Academy, Hopkins Academy respectively, and he has also worked as a private tutor in Rome, Italy. Matt holds a BA in History from the University of Massachusetts and a Master of Humanities in American Studies from the University of Amsterdam.

    Caroline Coshow | Grade 6 French

    Madame Coshow is a graduate of University Evry Val D’Essonne in Evry, France.  For the past four years Madame Coshow taught French at Beverly High School.  Prior Madame Coshow taught French at Rockport Middle School and Berlitz International School in Boston. 

    Ross Cowman | Grade 6 Science

    Ross has several years of experience teaching science. Since 2011, he has worked at the Pacific Hills School in West Hollywood California, the St. Matthew’s School in Pacific Palisades, California, and the Dexter Southfield School in Brookline, Massachusetts. Ross holds a BA in Environmental Studies and Spanish (dual major) from Bowdoin College and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Boston University.

    Shane DiCristina | Grade 7 English

    Shane is a recent graduate of Lesley University, where he earned his Master of Education in Middle School Education. He also graduated from Emerson College with a BA in Writing, Literature, and Publishing. Shane has worked for the Arlington Public Schools as a Behavioral Support Specialist, and he recently completed his student teaching with the Carlisle Public Schools. 

    Rosa Maloney | Grade 6 Spanish

    Rosa joins MERMS as our part-time, Grade 6 Spanish teacher. Rosa has worked at The Pingree School, Triton Regional Middle School, Lowell Catholic High School, and The Academy at Penguin Hall as a Spanish teacher. Rosa holds a BA in Spanish from Middlebury College.

    Phyllis Musco | Grade 6 Social Studies (long-term substitute)

    Phyllis is returning to the classroom this year as a long-term substitute teacher. Phyllis has many years of experience as a classroom teacher and librarian. Prior to joining MERSD in 2016, she worked at Hong Kong Academy in Hong Kong, China, and the International School Eastern Seaboard in Thailand. Phyllis holds a BA in Communication Studies from the University of Massachusetts. In 2016 she joined MERSD as a library/media specialist and a long-term substitute teacher in both English and Geography at the Grade 6 level. 

    Kasey Kennedy| SWING Fellow

    Kasey joins the middle school this year as an Endicott teaching fellow for the SWING program.  Alessia is a graduate of Providence College with a bachelor of arts in elementary education.  In addition to several teaching practicum experiences in Rhode Island, Alessia spent a semester in Florence, Italy, where she taught English to Italian students.  She also has an extensive background in supporting inclusive camps for children with special needs and serves on the Board of Directors from North Shore Rovers Special Olympic

     Alessia Manzi| IRWL Fellow

    Alessia joins the middle school this year as an Endicott teaching fellow for the IRWL program. Alessia holds a bachelor of science in mathematics from Endicott College, and she is licensed as a teacher of mathematics for grades 5-8.  She has previously completed a middle school math practicum in 6th and 8th grade mathematics as well as sheltered English immersion.   Alessia has held a variety of leadership positions at Endicott, including Endicott Scholars program, Aspire Women’s retreat leader, peer tutor, and Lighthouse leadership society.

    Manchester Essex Regional High School 


    Barrett Alston | Learning Commons TA 

    Mr. Alston earned his undergraduate degree from Bentley College and his graduate degree from Nichols College.  He was worked as a long-term substitute teacher and assistant tennis coach at MERSD. 

    Caroline Coshow |French Teacher 

    Madame Coshow is a graduate of University Evry Val D’Essonne in Evry, France.  For the past four years Madame Coshow taught French at Beverly High School.  Prior Madame Coshow taught French at Rockport Middle School and Berlitz International School in Boston. 

    Amber DelTorchio | Art Teacher 

    Ms. DelTorchio is a graduate of Salem State University.  Ms. DelTorchio has an extensive background as an artist and graphic designer.  Most recently she taught expressive painting to middle school students through the LEAP for education program in Salem. 

     Sara Heller |School Adjustment Counselor/Bridge Program 

    Ms. Heller received her undergraduate degree at New York University and her graduate degree at Lesley University.  Ms. Heller has served as a crisis clinician and most recently served as the Clinical Coordinator of the Bridge Program at Wellesley High School. 

    Adam Katz | Special Education 

    Mr. Katz is a received his undergraduate degree from the University of New Hampshire, and his graduate degrees from Simmons College and Endicott College.  Mr. Katz began his career at Newton North High School.  Most recently he taught at Landmark School and Weston Middle and High School.   

    Anne Lemmer|Math Teacher 

    Ms. Lemmer is a recent graduate of Gordon College.  She taught at Hamilton Wenham High School and student taught at Masconomet Regional High School. 

    Allen MacTaylor|Long Term Substitute Teacher Music/Choral Director 

    Mr. MacTaylor is a graduate of Salem State University.  He has worked with the LEAP for Education program in Salem as an Acapella Instructor.  He has also served as a drill instructor for both the Salem High School and Beverly High School Marching Bands. 

    Dan Richards | Interim- Dean of Students 

    Mr. Richards holds an undergraduate degree from Niagara University and graduate degree from Salem State University. Mr. Richards is a seasoned school administrator. Mr. Richards served as the Principal of Georgetown Middle High School, Belmont High School, and Melrose High School.  Prior to the Principalship, Mr. Richards was an Assistant Principal at Belmont High School and Peabody Veteran’s Memorial High School. 

     


    MERSD Central Office


    Angela Bik | Interim Director of Curriculum & Instructional Technology

    Angela is the recently retired Assistant Superintendent for Newburyport Public Schools.  She is an educator with experience in teaching, central office leadership, curriculum development, educational technology, budget management, strategic planning, and community partnerships. She believes that effective leadership is grounded in relationships. Angela establishes partnerships and creates innovative programming that advances teaching and learning by listening and leveraging the shared goals of all parties: students, teachers, colleagues, parents, and community groups. She fosters a collaborative environment that is student-focused and inclusive

    Sharon Bragg| Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable

    Sharon is working on a part-time basis for MERSD in our Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable department, filling in on a temporary basis for Eileen Buckley who retired this summer after 20+ years serving our school district.  Sharon has prior experience as the accounting manager for the Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce with other accounting roles in the local area in real estate and construction. 

    Gary Jones  MERSD | Network Administrator/Technology Manager

    In this role, Gary will oversee the network infrastructure upon which our district’s technology runs, with responsibility for network connectivity, Internet, email, Office 365, telecommunications, and computing hardware.  Gary previously served as the IT Manager for the Mystic Valley Regional Charter School with prior IT experience at Lahey Clinic and the City of Malden

    Ian Menchini| Data Analys t&  Database Administrator

    Ian Menchini joined MERSD this winter as our first ever Data Analyst and Database Administrator.  In this role, Ian oversees MERSD’s use of Aspen, as well as database related administrative software.  Ian comes to MERSD from Endicott College where he served as the Director of Enrollment Management with prior experience at Merrimack College and Suffolk University.  Ian’s expertise is in using data systems to improve everyday operations and functions.
