In February 2006 the towns of Manchester-by-the-Sea and Essex approved an override of $49 million to fund the construction of a new middle/high school. The approval process began in the fall of 2003 with the formation of the School Building Committee.
This committee was originally charged with developing a concept to bring in front of the two towns for a vote. In conjunction with that charge, the Committee undertook a campaign to educate voters about the project. Forums were held in both towns, articles were written for the newspapers, meetings were held with town leadership, and literature was developed for the purpose of informing the public about the plans for the project.
To keep informed, you will find information and links to the project’s current activities on the School Building Project page.
