School Building Project - Educational Program Support
Meeting the educational needs of students is at the root of this building plan. The building will accommodate 750 students in grades 6-12. Enrollment numbers and the district’s graduation requirements and educational vision determine the space needs. The building will include:

   For the academic program:
       Enough classrooms to accommodate both current and new courses of instruction;
       Individual base spaces for faculty to keep instructional materials and student work on site and to meet privately with students and parents;
        Fully equipped science laboratories;
       Flexible spaces for small group breakaway sessions and study areas to support current methods of teaching and learning;
       Library Media Center;
       A Lecture Hall which could be used by all teachers, featuring projection capabilities and distance learning capacity with seating for up to 100 students; and
       Integrated Technology Lab.

   For the arts program:
       A 500-seat auditorium for drama and music productions;
       Band, Choral, and Ensemble spaces; and
       Art studios with equipment/space for 2D Art, painting, drawing, printmaking, 3D Art studio for sculpture, Graphics Lab.
   For the athletic program:
       Up-graded and expanded fields that will accommodate all current outdoor sports -- football, soccer, field hockey, lacrosse, softball, baseball and tennis; and
       A 10,000 square foot gymnasium that will include two basketball courts, spaces for intramural sports, fitness and wellness classes, along with associated locker rooms, team rooms, and offices for the Athletic Director and trainer.

The new facilities will provide a first rate home for the District’s excellent programs. In addition, the new buildings will have significant energy efficiencies and improved environmental and safety conditions (e.g., better indoor air quality, sprinkler systems).
