School Construction Communication Plan: Final 6/26/07
Objective
This plan will define the roles and responsibilities, rules of engagement, what and how all information regarding the school building will be communicated and updated to the Boards of Selectman, the neighborhoods and the communities.
Roles/Responsibility The School Committee is the governing body of the school district and as an elected position has the final authority and accountability for the school building project. The Chair of the School Committee is the spokes person for the committee and is responsible to communicate or designate another School Committee member to communicate to the Board of Selectman and to ensure the following communication plan is effectively executed.
The School Building Committee, Project Management Team, Architects, Consultants and Contractors are responsible to bring the building in on time and on budget. They are responsible for all the long and short term building plans, the day to day aspects of the construction, regular reporting on construction activities. The Chair of the SBC is responsible to field all questions, providing timely answers and summary updates to the School Committee on a monthly basis.
Rules of Engagement
All committee work will be conducted in accordance to Open Meeting Law. All communication will be direct, fact based, objective, focused to the issue. All teams will work collaboratively; all interactions will be respectful and professional.
The public is encouraged to ask questions directly of the building committee. Other committees and boards are urged to ask the public to contact the school building directly so they may respond they can respond in a timely and efficient matter

Committee meetings will be a School Construction update with opportunity for Q&A Open Houses will be scheduled as needed to ensure good communication A formal update to the BOS at the first meeting each month Neighborhood meetings, opt-in email push notification or call list Regular Press Releases to the local news papers; “What is going on with the School Construction?”
