School Committee Governance
The powers and duties of the Manchester Essex Regional School District are vested in and exercised by the Manchester Essex Regional School Committee.

The school committee is elected to terms in accordance with the Regional School District Agreement. and consists of seven members, four from Manchester-by-the-Sea and three from Essex.

The Regional School Committee conducts regular public meetings on the first and third Tuesday of each month. For more information, please contact the Office of the Superintendent, or phone 978/526-4919.

The Manchester Essex Regional School District was created to serve the communities and meet the educational needs of the students in Manchester and Essex, Massachusetts.
The District’s School Committee will appoint administrators, adopt policies, approve budgets, and provide facilities that ensure equitable and appropriate educational, athletic, and extra-curricular programs and services to the students of Manchester and Essex.
To achieve our goals we will:
  • Follow the laws and guidelines governing public schools as set forth by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
  • Strive for equity of facilities and support across the district
  • Work in concert with Town leadership to define priorities and set forward fiscally responsible plans to meet our educational vision
  • Use research methods to inform educational programs and guide decisions
  • Strive to meet the educational needs of all students by providing differentiated instruction
  • Articulate high expectations and hold high standards for students, staff, and faculty
  • Draw upon the vast strengths of the communities of Manchester and Essex, Massachusetts
