Reassurance on Recalled Meat – Not Used in District
Update on Recalled Hallmark/Westland Meat Packing Company
On February 17, 2008, USDA issued a press release related to the voluntary recall of frozen beef products produced by Hallmark/Westland Meat Packing Company located in Chino, California. Massachusetts did not receive any direct beef products from Hallmark/Westland Meat Packing Company. USDA officials state that they have issued this recall for regulatory violations at the Hallmark/Westland Meat Packing facility and that the agency has no reports of human illness linked to the recalled products. Some Massachusetts schools and child and adult care centers may have received finished products made from beef supplied to processors by Westland Meat Co.
All product codes, brands, and lots have been checked and MERSD does not use any of the questionable products.
